Woman and baby hospitalised after 'having liquid thrown over them' after fight in Lidl car park

A woman and a baby were taken to hospital after having a liquid substance over them during a fight in a supermarket car park.

The pair were doused in an initially unknown liquid after trouble erupted at a Lidl store in Leeds.

Police were called to reports of fighting in the car park at the Lidl on Oak Tree Walk in Gipton just after 7:15pm on Saturday evening.

A big police cordon was put in place with a number of vehicles on the scene as well as fire engines and paramedics, Leeds Live reports.

The woman and baby were taken to hospital as a precaution but both thankfully escaped with minor injuries.

Police have rigorously tested the liquid and determined that it does not appear to be a corrosive, with reports that it may have been anti-freeze.

The scene was washed down by a specialist police team in any event.
