Woman airlifted to hospital after fall at trainer Mouse Morris' yard

A airlifted to hospital from trainer Mouse Morris' yard on Thursday after she suffered a fall on the gallops.

Gold Cup and Grand National-winning trainer Morris' staff member was brought from his Tipperary yard to Cork University Hospital by Air Ambulance.

And the trainer has urged the community to support the service, and hopes the accident can generate awareness as the service heavily relies on donations.

“Unfortunately, a girl had a fall and she needed the flight down to Cork University Hospital," he told the Racing Post.

"But for the air ambulance, she would have been in a lot more pain. It was an airlift job, so we’re very grateful they arrived.”

He added: “They were brilliant. The air ambulance arrived within 20 minutes of us calling for them. An ambulance also came out from Thurles. They were great."

The Jockeys Emergency Fund (JEF) made a €50,000 donation to the air ambulance Service, and Morris hopes the horse racing community can help give back.

He said: “There will be a link on my Facebook and Twitter page. It’s a hugely important service and they need every euro they can get. They are very reliant on donations and, if we can do anything to help, we’d love to try to do something.”
