A woman has been airlifted from the top of Blarney Castle after she suffered a fall.
The incident occurred at the top of the 90-foot medieval tower in Co Cork at approximately 2pm on Wednesday.
A decision was made to airlift the woman as the staircase leading to the top of the structure was too narrow for emergency services to reach her.
Shannon Rescue Helicopter 115 was dispatched to Blarney Castle, and the woman was winched from the tower aboard the helicopter.
The injured woman was then transferred to Cork University Hospital, where she was assessed.

Her injuries are said to be non life-threatening.
