There’s a girl on TikTok who ate flesh from her own rib and channeled her inner food critic to give the internet a review of how it tasted.
A TikTok user who goes by @pterodactylhunny on the platform explained the story of how she even came to possess a chunk of her rib flesh in the first place. She told her bemused viewers that she had an illness, which she vaguely described as a “rare blood syndrome thing.” The medical condition required her to have a rib removed.
An illness such as Thoracic Outlet Syndrome materializes as increased pressure in the blood vessels located between the collarbone and ribs. One cause is an irregularly placed rib, and some doctors opt for removing it to ease the pressure. So she could have had a disease similar to that. Probably, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. could soon suggest some alternative pseudo-scientific way of solving the issue, like ingesting bleach, but for now, that’s all modern science can conjure up.
Announcing you got a rib removed on TikTok is, sadly, not enough to secure a million views on the same platform where people are casually revealing the secrets of Scientology. The user then went into more detail about what she did after the doctor removed her rib, and that’s what got the internet’s undivided attention.
It goes without saying that whenever you open TikTok, you’re bound to find a prime example of oversharing within a few swipes, but this instance was truly remarkable. The user claimed that when she first got the rib, her plan was to store it as memorabilia of her conquering whatever illness she had. However, when she got home, she found that the rib still had little bits of meat and muscle. She claimed she boiled it at first to remove the chunks of meat so the bone wouldn’t rot. But in the pot where she was boiling a human rib, the meat from her bone eventually slid off into the water.
The user claims she went on to taste her own essentially cooked flesh, suggesting that what she did shouldn’t be considered weird. She then gave a review of her flesh, telling her viewers that the meat didn’t taste that great — which is quite a detail to add. Because what exactly were her viewers supposed to do if she had found out her flesh was actually delicious? Her end goal will forever remain a mystery to polite society. Maybe this was just her misguided way of proving to herself she’s not that weird.
The majority of the comments were either dismayed or disgusted. One user said, “How do you delete someone else’s video?” and another said, “I wish they’d take this app away like they keep saying they will.” The dangers of consuming human flesh should go without saying — but eating your own flesh, that’s simply a person beyond a simple discussion. But her response? “Ur jealous I have tasted the forbidden snack.”
The thing about TikTok is that by next week, something even more outrageous will somehow go viral. The app remains where the human experience is documented at its most intimate — be it through thoughts or acts.
