Woman admits sending drugs and mobile phones into County Durham's HMP Frankland

A woman has admitted sending drugs and mobile phones into a category A prison.

Amy Sanfelix committed the offences between January 3 and 6 when she sent cannabis and four phones into HMP Frankland in Brasside, County Durham.

The 32-year-old appeared at Durham Crown Court on Monday where she pleaded guilty to two counts of conveying an article into prison.

The court heard that the defendant's sentencing would be adjourned until later this week, so that a pre-sentence report could be put together.

Full details of the offences were not given during the hearing.

Recorder Simon Goldberg said: "I'm not sentencing you today as there are too many things I need to read thoroughly before I can do you justice.

"You are clearly very emotional about it.

"You will come back to this court on Thursday to be sentenced."

Sanfelix, of Westgill Square, Annan, Scotland, will return to the court on Thursday, March 10 for sentence.

She was granted unconditional bail until then.
