Woman admits attempted murder after a disposable barbecue was found lit in a house

A woman has admitted attempted murder after a disposable barbecue was found lit in a house.

Earlier this year, police were called to a property on Radnormere Drive in Cheadle Hulme, Stockport, to reports of 'smoke emanating from a lit disposable barbecue within the property', GMP said.

No one was injured during the incident, which happened at around 12.40am on January 2.

Now Lisa Walmsley, 50, of Radnormere Drive, has admitted two counts of attempted murder.

She appeared at Manchester Crown Court on Friday afternoon for a brief hearing.

Walmsley, with black, shoulder-length hair and glasses perched on the top of her head, wore a black jumper and white shirt as she appeared in court via video link from HMP Styal.

Barristers also appeared in court remotely via video conferencing software.

No further details about the case were revealed.

The case was adjourned.

Walmsley will be sentenced on August 14.

The court heard that reports from a consultant psychiatrist, a consultant psychologist and the probation service will be drawn up ahead of the hearing.

Judge Patrick Field QC told Walmsley: "You have now pleaded guilty, and the task that remains for the court is to pass sentence.

"But I don't propose to pass sentence today.

"I recognise it is important in this case that I am furnished with as much information about you as possible."

Walmsley was remanded in custody.
