Woman accused of racially harassing her neighbour appears in court

A woman who allegedly called her neighbour a “rat” and threw bacon on her driveway has appeared in court.

Collette Morris, 53, of Halewood, pleaded not guilty at Liverpool Magistrates' Court on Wednesday to one count of racially or religiously aggravated harassment without violence and one count of harassment without violence between May 27 and August 19, 2022.

A court heard that on May 27, 2022, Amanda Evans’ family were visiting her home, wearing traditional Indian dress for a wedding. Ms Evans allegedly heard Morris shout “the Muslims have arrived” and “the p**is are in town”.

It is also alleged that on August 15, Morris threw a ham sandwich out of her window onto the complainant's driveway.

On August 17, Morris allegedly called Ms Evans a "f***ing rat" and threw bacon onto her driveway. The 53-year-old has been released on conditional bail and will appear at Liverpool Crown Court on March 1.
