A woman has been charged with vehicular manslaughter after mowing down her boyfriend with her car and killing him.

Udele Burno, 38, from Maryland, US, deliberately mowed her boyfriend Shamatto Clarke, 40, of Riverdale to death.

The horrifying incident took place on August 20, around 8.45pm in the Maryland area of Brandywine - which is approximately 22 miles from Washington, DC.

According to a news release, police were notified of the occurrence after someone called to notify them of a person trapped under a car.

Tragically, when officers from the Prince George County Police Department arrived at the scene they found Clarke pinned underneath the vehicle.

He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a news release from the Prince George County Police Department, she currently remains in custody - with no bond status.

It has been reported by Crimeonline.com that Burno has previously been convicted of domestic violence charges, which go back to 2005.

Clarke's sister took to Facebook to write a heartbreaking tribute to her brother (Shamatto Clarke, 40)

Clarke - who was from Westmoreland, Jamaica, but lived in Washington DC - was employed by the Department of Defense, according to his Facebook page.

Family and friends also took to the social media site to write their heartbreaking tributes and touching messages.

His sister, Fiona Garcia, posted on the social media site, writing: "Today has been the worst day of my life. I love you forever big brother. Heaven couldn't wait for you."

She adorned the message with crying and heartbroken emojis, and added a photo of her brother wearing a Bulls jersey.
