Woman, 89, terrified after being woken up in her own home by 'skinny' burglar who demanded money

An 89-year-old woman was woken up by a burglar who demanded money.

The terrifying ordeal happened at around 5.30am on Sunday at the pensioner's home on Marble Hall Road, Milford Haven.

Police have issued an urgent appeal after the burglar left with the victim's large blue purse that had around £20 and a bank card in it. They have described it as a "despicable" crime.

The suspect is described as 5ft 10ins tall and skinny.

It is not known if the suspect was a man or woman as they were wearing a black scarf over their face. The suspect was also wearing a dark grey jacket and had a backpack.

A spokesman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: "The victim was not hurt but is very shaken by the experience."

Officers are carrying out house to house enquiries in the area and following all other lines of enquiry.

Temporary Sergeant Haydon Mathias said: “I would like to assure residents in Milford Haven that we are following all lines of enquiry to find this person as swiftly as possible.

“Targeting an elderly lady in her own home like this is despicable and we will not rest until we find the person responsible.

“I would also urge residents to be vigilant and to make sure your windows and doors are locked and secure.

“If anyone locally knows who has done this I urge you to please, do the right thing and come forward with information.”

Anyone with information that could help officers with their investigation is asked to report it to Dyfed-Powys Police, quoting reference DP- 20191201-065.
