Woman, 89, pulled to the ground and has handbag stolen in 'shocking' Beeston robbery

An 89-year-old woman was pulled to the ground by a man who stole her handbag.

The robbery happened in the woman's back garden in Winchester Avenue, Beeston, at 4.16pm on Wednesday (October 2).

The man is believed to have fled on a pushbike.

The victim was shocked but unhurt.

Detective Sergeant Charlotte Henson, of Nottinghamshire Police, who is leading the investigation, said: "This was a shocking robbery for the victim, who is a vulnerable elderly woman and was approached from behind and dragged to the ground as the man pulled the bag from her shoulder."

Anyone with information which may help the investigation is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident 674 of October 2.

Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
