Woman, 84, seriously injured following two-car Ayrshire crash

An 84-year-old woman has sustained serious injuries following a two-car crash.

The elderly passenger was hurt following the smash on the A76 Kilmarnock road at Mauchline yesterday at around 12 noon.

The crash, at the junction with an unclassified road just south of Holybush Farm, involved a Ford Fiesta and a Skoda Yeti.

The 84-year-old woman, a passenger in the Fiesta, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Crosshouse Hospital by the Scottish Ambulance Service.

The driver of the Fiesta was also taken to hospital and released after treatment.

Road Policing Sergeant Stewart Taylor said: “Our enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances of what happened and I am appealing to anyone who may have seen anything to get in touch.

“In particular, anyone who may have dash-cam footage and saw either of the cars before the crash is asked to get in touch.

"Please call us on 101, quoting incident number 1360 of Friday, September 18, 2020."
