Woman, 80s, tragically dies after early-morning fire at home near Enniscorthy, Co Wexford

An elderly woman has tragically died after an early-morning fire at a Co Wexford home.

The pensioner, in her 80s, has been named locally as Breda Cummins.

She was pronounced dead at the scene of the blaze which happened at around 7am on Tuesday.

Emergency services attended the scene at Ballyeden, Davidstown near Enniscorthy.

A man, in his 40s, was rushed to Wexford General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A garda spokesman told the Irish Mirror the fire is not being treated as suspicious at this time.

He said: "Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a fatal house fire that occurred at a house in Ballyeden, Davidstown near Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford on the 10th December 2019 shortly before 7:00am.

"A scene has been preserved for a technical examination."
