An elderly woman was found decapitated at her home in the south of France.
The 77-year-old's head was discovered on a table with her body on the floor beside, a source reportedly said.
Another source working within the police said the horrifying crime was not thought to be terror-related and had not been referred to anti-terror prosecutors, according to the Mirror.
The woman's body was found by authorities after her panicked son, who she usually spoke to everyday, couldn't get in contact with her.
He also became suspicious when he spotted a shadow on the ground at his mother's home, which he was connected to through a video link.

There were no signs of a break in at the home at the Mediterranean resort of Agde in the Herault region, police have said.
The outside gate was shut while the front door was unlocked.
There are currently no further details on the case and police still haven't announced any specific line of inquiry, police said.
