The family of a pensioner who was allegedly murdered said she was "loved" and will be "sorely missed".

Mavis Long, 77, was found following a "fatal incident" at a house in Pennant near Llanon, Ceredigion on Friday, May 10.

In a statement, her family said: "This was an extremely tragic incident in which we have lost Mavis, who was loved and will be sorely missed.

"We would like to thank the local community for all their kind words and support at this difficult time.

"We would now like time to grieve and would ask for privacy in which to do so."

In a statement, Dyfed-Powys Police said: "Formal identification has been completed and an inquest has been opened and adjourned this morning, by H.M.Coroner for Ceredigion.

"The inquest has been adjourned to a date to be fixed."
