Woman, 76, found after going missing from South Side

Barbara Survillion

A 76-year-old woman has been found after being reported missing from Englewood on the South Side.

Barbara Survillion, who suffers from dementia, had first wandered away from her home early Friday in the area of 55th and Justine Streets, Chicago police and Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford said.

Her family members alerted police and fire officials and distributed copies of a missing person poster across the neighborhood, Langford said.

Just before nightfall Friday, a child spotted Survillion in a vacant lot in the 5600 block of South Laflin Street, Langford said. After noticing that Survillion was unresponsive, he notified an adult, who went to the Englewood firehouse to request help.

Survillion was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center for treatment, Langford said.

Police canceled the missing persons alert for Survillion Saturday.
