Woman, 76, in critical condition after serious crash on busy Rhondda road

A 76-year-old is in a "critical condition" after a serious crash on a busy Rhondda road.

The A4419 was closed for around four hours on Wednesday after a two-vehicle crash involving a silver Toyota Corolla and a dark blue Peugeot 207.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 11.10am between Coedely and Thomastown.

A 76-year-old female passenger in the Peugeot was taken to the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, where she remains in a critical condition.

Two men aged 83 and 47 from the Peugeot, and a 71-year-old woman driving the Corolla were also taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident.

Witnesses to the collision, drivers with dash cam footage of the incident or anyone who witnessed the manner of driving of either vehicle prior to the collision, are asked to please contact  South Wales Police on 101 quoting occurrence 1900290092.
