A 75-year-old woman has been left in a 'critical condition' after being hit by a Mercedes near the bus station in Ashton-under-Lyne.
Police were called to Albion Way at around 2.10pm today (Saturday, December 18).
The pedestrian has now been taken to hospital with a head injury where she 'remains in a critical condition', a spokesperson from Greater Manchester Police said.

No arrests have been made but officers have said that enquiries are ongoing.
The incident resulted in the closure of Wellington Road, the A6043, and bus services being diverted.
Stagecoach said earlier in a Tweet: "Due to a police Incident outside Ashton bus station all services will be operating from Gas Street until further notice.
"Stagecoach and TfGM staff are on site to assist passengers."
The road has now reopened and bus services have returned to normal.
A statement from Greater Manchester Police said: "At around 2.10pm today (18 December), police were called to reports of a collision on Albion Way, Tameside, between a Mercedes and a pedestrian.
"Emergency services attended and a 75-year-old woman was taken to hospital with a head injury where she remains in a critical condition.
"No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.
