Woman, 73, suffers suspected broken hip broken from being dragged to the ground in robbery

A 73-year-old woman suffered a suspected broken hip after being dragged to the ground in a handbag robbery.

It was snatched from her shoulder, causing her to fall backwards, in Lovers Lane, Newark, at around 7.30pm on Sunday, November 3.

The victim remains at King's Mill Hospital, Sutton-in-Ashfield. Her injury is not believed to be life-threatening, police have said.

The man who took the handbag was described as white, in his 20s, 6ft tall, skinny and was wearing a dark jacket and white hooded top.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has CCTV or dash-cam footage in the area, is urged to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 805 of 3 November 2019. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
