A 73-year-old woman was rushed to hospital in a serious condition after being stabbed.
Emergency services rushed to Hope Farm Road in Ellesmere Port at around 12am on Monday, July 11 following reports of a serious assault. Eyewitnesses reported a large police and ambulance presence which had arrived on the scene "very quickly".
Officers from Cheshire Police attending the scene found two people, a woman, 73, and a man, 31, with puncture wounds after being stabbed. The woman sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Aintree Hospital. Her condition has now been described as non-life threatening.

The man sustained minor injuries and was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital to be assessed. Police arrested a 47-year-old man in connection with the incident following a search of the area.
An eyewitness said they heard police officers arresting the man in the early hours of today. Writing on Facebook they said: "I heard a policeman shouting at someone asking if they had any other weapons and to get on the floor and don't move."
Enquiries are currently ongoing pending further investigation.
