Woman, 60, suffers life-changing injuries in ‘attempted rape’ by Wandsworth park

A man has been charged with attempted rape after a woman was left with life-changing injuries sustained in an attack by a park in Wandsworth.

The 60-year-old victim was found suffering serious head injuries in Garratt Lane by an entrance to King George’s Park at 2am on Thursday.

Police said Yaw Donkor, 47, of no fixed abode was charged with attempted rape, GBH, kidnap and robbery and remanded in custody to appear at Wimbledon Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

The force added the woman’s injuries have been confirmed as life-changing.

Crime scenes in place on Mapleton Road, the Entrance to King George’s Park and The Old Sergeant Bus Stop have been lifted.
