A 59-year-old woman has died five weeks after a horror flat fire in Forfar.

Emergency services raced to a ground floor flat on Kings Road around 4.20pm on Saturday January 22.

The woman was pulled from the blaze and rushed to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee with critical injuries.

Police have now confirmed the woman sadly passed away on Tuesday this week as a result of her injuries.

There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the fire.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.20pm on Saturday January 22, Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended a fire at a house on Kings Road in Forfar.

“The fire was extinguished and a 59-year-old woman was removed from the premises before she was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee by ambulance.

“She subsequently died in hospital on Tuesday March 1.

“A joint police and fire and investigation has been carried out and there are no apparent suspicious circumstances.”
