A woman has died after being struck by a bus on the Stuart Highway in Darwin.
NT Police said the crash happened near a bus shelter in The Narrows, about 5 kilometres from the Darwin CBD, shortly before 5:30pm yesterday.
The driver of the bus stopped immediately, NT Police said.
The 57-year-old woman was found dead on the road.
Police said a crime scene was established and it remained in place on the inbound lane of the highway.
"Police are appealing for witnesses, particularly motorists with dash cam footage who travelled along Stuart Highway through The Narrows between 5pm and 5:30pm," Detective Senior Sergeant Brendan Lindner said.
That stretch of the multi-lane Stuart Highway in The Narrows has a speed limit of 70kph.
Pedestrians have to cross four lanes of traffic and a pedestrian island to reach bus shelters on either side of the highway.
