Woman, 56, dead in Aurora house fire

A woman was found dead after a house fire July 16, 2019, in the 1100 block of South State Street in Aurora.

A woman died in a house fire Tuesday in west suburban Aurora.

Tamara Garcia, 56, was discovered inside of her home in the 1100 block of South State Street, according to a statement from the Kane County sheriff’s office. The sheriff’s office and the Aurora Township Fire Department were called at 5:37 a.m. for reports of the fire with the possibility of someone trapped inside.

Initial responders discovered the home engulfed in flames and were unable to enter, the sheriff’s office said. Firefighters found Garcia’s body once they got inside.

Investigators do not suspect foul play.

The sheriff’s office and the Kane County Fire Investigation Task Force are investigating the incident.
