Woman, 50s, 'hit with pickaxe' in alleged assault in Leitrim as gardai launch investigation

A woman was reportedly hit with a pickaxe in an alleged assault in Leitrim on Thursday evening.

The alleged incident happened in the Pairc Beag area of Lis Cara at 7:30pm.

The woman, aged in her 50s, did not require medical attention after the alleged incident.

Gardai confirmed they have launched an investigation but no arrests have been made at this time.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí are investigating an assault incident that occurred in the Pairc Beag area of Lis Cara on 03/09/2020 at approximately 7:30pm.

"A woman, aged in her 50s, reported to have been assaulted. Did not require medical attention. Investigations are continuing."
