Woman, 50, fighting for her life after suffering a stab wound during 'assault' in Leigh

A woman is being treated for a 'life-threatening' stab wound following a reported 'assault'.

Emergency services were called to Conway Close, in the Higher Folds area of Leigh, at 10.20pm last night (June 6).

A 50-year-old woman was taken to hospital with a stab wound. According to police, the injury she suffered is 'life-threatening'.

A 47-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of section 47 assault.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "Police were called to a report of assault at an address on Conway Close, Leigh at around 10.20pm on Friday 5 June 2020.

"Emergency services attended and a woman aged 50 was taken to hospital, where she remains for treatment of a life-threatening stab wound.

"A woman aged 47 was arrested on suspicion of section 47 assault.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
