Woman, 41, arrested after 13-year-old girl assaulted in 'attempted robbery'

A woman has been arrested after a 13-year-old girl was assaulted in Bolton.

The suspect, aged 41, has been detained by police on suspicion of attempted robbery after an incident at 2.30pm yesterday (Friday).

In a post on Facebook, a spokesman for GMP's Bolton North team said the teenager had been assaulted and someone had tried to take money from her.

He said: "A woman has been arrested following an attempt robbery in Tonge Fold.

"Just after 2.30pm, police received reports that a female had been detained by members of the public on Bury Road.

"A 13-year-old girl had been assaulted and money attempted to be stolen from her.

"Officers attended the scene and arrested a 41-year-old female on suspicion of attempted robbery. She remains in police custody for questioning."
