Woman, 39, dies after her car goes into the River Trent at Hoveringham

A 39-year-old woman has died after her car left the road and went into the River Trent.

The incident happened on Tuesday (September 24) in Hoveringham.

Nottinghamshire Police were called to Hoveringham Road, in Hoveringham, at around 4pm following reports of a car in the river.

The woman was taken to hospital but died from her injuries a short while later.

No one else has is believed to have been injured in the incident.

Police said Hoveringham Road will remain closed until it has been cleared. 

A spokesman said: "Anyone who witnessed the incident, has any information that could aid officers in their investigation, or has any dashcam footage, should call 101 and quote incident number 565 of 24 September 2019."
