An inquest has been opened into the death of a 37-year-old woman who "died during complex medical treatment" in Nottingham.

Mr Gordon Clow, assistant coroner for Nottinghamshire, opened the inquest on the morning on Tuesday May 4 at Nottingham Council House.

Situl Kaur Bains was born on August 21 1983 and died on January 30 2021.

She was aged 37 at the time of her death and died at the Queen's Medical Centre.

Assistant coroner Mr Clow said while the provisional cause of death from a postmortem examination was awaited there was "concern that Situl Bains died during complex medical treatment and so I have a duty to open an inquest."

The inquest stands adjourned for further enquiries with a date for a final hearing to be fixed.

Mr Clow expressed his condolences to the family and friends of Situl affected.
