Enfield school stabbing horror: Woman, 34, arrested after man knifed outside primary in front of ‘shaken’ pupils

Police are continuing to question a woman after a man was stabbed outside a north London primary school in front of pupils during pick-up time.

Officers were called to Capel Manor Primary School in Bullsmoor Lane, Enfield, to reports of a man in his 40s suffered a stab injury at 3.15pm on Tuesday.

The 34-year-old was arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. She remains in police custody.

Children reportedly left “shaken and upset” were kept inside the building until 4.30pm before being allowed home.

The Metropolitan Police say no pupils or staff were involved in the incident and enquires into the circumstances continue.

The victim was taken to hospital by paramedics and his condition is not life threatening, the force say.

Capel Manor Primary School, which has 380 pupils from aged four to 11, is rated good by Ofsted.

In a statement, headteacher Marianne Enchill-Balogun told the Standard: “The safety and wellbeing of our pupils and staff is our absolute priority. I can confirm that no children or staff were involved in yesterday’s incident or placed in any danger at any time.

“We are in close contact with parents and the school has opened as normal today to maintain a regular routine for our pupils and not disrupt their education.

“We are also working closely with partners including the police and the council to ensure that all necessary safeguarding measures and support are in place.”

Mrs Enchill-Balogun says on the school’s website: “Capel Manor is a rich and dynamic learning environment.

“Our caring ethos is underpinned by strong moral values that guide our thoughts, remind us how to behave and let us know what is important in life.

“As a result, we are rewarded with happy, enthusiastic children who really enjoy coming to school.

“Visitors to the school will see our values in action through the respect and support that are displayed by all members of our school community.”

Scotland Yard said: “Police were called at approximately 3.15pm on Tuesday, February 6 to reports of a man stabbed at a school in Bullsmoor Lane, Enfield.
