Woman, 33, fighting for life after falling from cliffs and suffering head injuries

A woman is fighting for her life after she fell from a cliff close to a car park.

The 33-year-old was taken to hospital after she fell in Tynemouth and suffered a serious head injury just before 11pm last night.

Northumbria Police said she is currently in a critical but stable condition and an investigation has been launched to establish what happened, Chronicle Live reports.

Officers have appealed for help from the public but they are also trying to track down a Good Samaritan who tended to the woman.

A police presence remains at the scene and the area is still taped off.

Police have called for a Good Samaritan to come forward (PA)

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Woods, of Northumbria Police, said: “We are trying to piece together exactly what has happened and a cordon remains in place at Tynemouth today.

“This woman has fallen a significant distance and suffered serious injuries that have left her fighting for her life in hospital.

“We would like to speak to a Good Samaritan who provided medical assistance and would ask that he contact police.

“We would ask anyone else who was in the area and may have witnessed anything unusual, to contact police.”

If you believe you have information that could assist police then report it online at the Northumbria Police website, or call 101, quoting log 1397 31/10/20.
