Woman, 30s, stabbed to death in daylight attack as police launch probe

A woman in her 30s has been stabbed to death sparking a police investigation.

Police raced to Stockwell Park Walk in Brixton just after 4pm on Monday to reports of a stabbing and found the woman with stab wounds.

Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service tried to save her but sadly she died at the scene.

MyLondon reports seeing harrowing footage of aftermath of the attack, as police and paramedics tried to save the woman's life.

There was set up a blue tent on the pedestrianised area between SW9 Community Housing and The Junction SW9 which has been taped off by police as they try to work out what happened.

A nearby resident told the outlet: "She was being resuscitated by doctors at the scene but they stopped attempts. The police had cordoned off the area so [there was] no one else around. But it was clear they had stopped all resuscitation attempts and covered her with blankets."

An aerial photo of the scene shows the devastation left after the incident. Medical kits, a police officer's hat, and blue plastic gloves are all visible strewn across the cobbles surrounding the blue tent.

Police are appealing for witnesses (UkNewsinPictures)

An investigation has now been launched with a number of roads closed around the scene, while police are yet to say if they are hunting the attacker.

A spokesperson for the force added: "The woman's family have been informed and they will be supported by specialist officers."

Enquiries are ongoing. Any witnesses are asked to call 101 quoting CAD 4728/01May. To remain anonymous contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
