Woman, 30, injured after being knocked down on Newhaven Road in Edinburgh

A woman was taken to hospital after being knocked down by a car on a street in the north of Edinburgh.

Newhaven Road was closed for several hours following the incident at 11.10am on Sunday.

Police were seen speaking to local residents and an ambulance was also called to the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information has been asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.

A spokesman for the force said: "A 30-year-old woman was taken to hospital and treated for her injuries.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
