Woman, 28, found dead in flat an hour before man fell seriously ill in same close

A young woman was found dead in her flat just before a man in the same close was rushed to hospital.

The 28-year-old’s body was discovered at a property on Stock Street in Paisley.

Emergency services were called to the scene around 5.30pm on Monday and she was sadly pronounced dead.

Under an hour later, police raced to another flat in the same block of flats after concerns were raised for a man who had taken unwell.

An ambulance was called and the resident, who is aged 37, was rushed to the Royal Alexandra Hospital.

He is still undergoing treatment and police are continuing inquiries into this incident.

Currently, police are not linking both incidents, which unfolded close to where a couple was found dead in their home.

Stephen Mclachlan, 37, and Lisa Gilchrist, 38, were found dead within the property in Espedair Street on January 10.

A source in the street told the Paisley Daily Express: “We thought the people were found in different closes.

“It’s terrible and so sad for the woman, we think it may have been a drugs overdose.

“There seems to be a flood of drugs in this area at the moment.”

A Police Scotland spokeswoman confirmed the death of the woman is not being treated as suspicious.

She said: “Around 5.30pm on Monday police were called to a flat in Stock Street, Paisley, where the body of a 28-year-old woman was found.

“There would appear to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
