Woman, 24, in hospital after two-vehicle crash at Eaglesham roundabout

A young woman was taken to hospital after being involved in a two-vehicle crash on the A726 at Eaglesham.

The collision happened at the Belle Craig Roundabout at around 6.30pm last night.

The 24-year-old driver sustained soft tissue damage in the smash and was released after treatment at Hairmyres Hospital.

The road to East Kilbride was closed for some time while emergency services worked at the scene and the vehicles were recovered.

East Renfrewshire Police confirmed no charges were brought.

Inspector Bryan McGeogh said: "Police attended a report of a two-vehicle crash at the Belle Craig Roundabout on the A726, Eaglesham at 6.30pm on Monday, September 23.

"A 24-year-old woman was taken to hospital as a precaution and was released after treatment a short time later.

"No charges were brought against either driver."
