A firefighter is accused of tossing acid at his fianceé in a jealous rage, just days before their wedding was due to take place.
The attack left the 24-year-old bride-to-be, who said she had been trying to find a way to escape the relationship, disfigured.
The incident took place on New Year's Day in the Vietnamese city of Da Nang on the coast of the South China Sea.
Local authorities have now concluded their investigation into the case that left the young woman needing multiple surgeries for her severe burns, according to reports.

The suspect has been named as 24-year-old Nguyen Truong Nam Hai, a second lieutenant and officer at the local fire department.
The victim, identified as 24-year-old L.T.L.V., spoke about the attack on social media five months after it allegedly took place.
She said that days after they registered for their marriage certificate at the end of December she wanted to end the relationship, alleging Hai would frequently beat her in a jealous rage.

However, the firefighter insisted that both families sit down and discuss the issue, she claimed.
According to local reports, the two families met on January 1 and when Hai arrived at the victim's home, he allegedly walked into the kitchen and splashed his fianceé's face with acid.
She suffered severe burns to her face, arms and legs while her parents also received minor injuries, according to local media.

She has undergone nearly 10 operations in the last five months, according to the victim's mother.
Her ex has reportedly been stripped of his rank and dismissed from his position after the investigation.
It is currently unclear when the trial will get underway.
