A woman who spurred Peter Kay to come out of retirement has died of cancer.
Laura Nuttall, from Barrowford in Pendle, died this morning (May 22) following a battle with incurable brain cancer. Her family confirmed the tragic update via social media.
Laura, who graduated from the University of Manchester last year, was given a year to live in 2018. A routine eye test led to the devastating diagnosis of Glioblastoma Multiforme- Lancashire Live reports.

She was then told she had eight tumours in her body and started a treatment course in London, while also ticking multiple items off of her bucket list. This included fishing with Paul Whitehouse and Bob Mortimer, meeting Johnny Marr and watching Fleabag being performed live on stage.
Laura responded so well to the treatment that she began a new uni course at the University of Manchester. The 23-year-old hit a milestone she previously would not have thought possible by graduating with a 2:1.
She received the support and backing of legendary comedian Peter Kay in 2021, when he took her for lunch and held his first gigs in years to raise funds for her treatment, he also hosted two live Q&As in her honour.
Now, less than a year after graduating, Laura's death was confirmed by her family.
In a post on Laura's Twitter account, her mother Nicola said: "I'm heartbroken to share the news that we lost our beautiful Laura in the early hours of this morning.
"She was fierce and tenacious to the end and it was truly the honour of my life to be her mum. We are devastated at the thought of life without our girl, she was a force of nature."
Responding, Pendle MP Andrew Stephenson said: "Heartbreaking news. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. RIP Laura."
Comedian and actress Diane Morgan said: "I’m so sorry. I feel like I got to know her a little bit through your posts. She was an amazing person. I could see that. And she couldn’t have had more loving parents. Sending you tonnes of love and support xxx."
Responding to Diane, Laura's mum said: "Thank you so much Diane, you were so kind and generous with your time and really lifted her spirits when things started to get tough, thank you xx."
