A young woman lost her life following a road crash between Coupar Angus and Forfar at the weekend.
Road policing officers in Tayside have appealed for witnesses in the aftermath of the fatal collision on the A94 near Ardler.
The incident happened around 5.15pm on Sunday when a blue Vauxhall Corsa was driving eastbound when it left the road and struck a tree.
The 23-year-old female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 29-year-old male driver was taken to Ninewells Hospital with serious injuries.
Sergeant Ewan Pearce of Tayside’s Road Policing Unit said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased at this time.
“We are conducting extensive enquiries into the circumstances of this incident and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
“If you were in the area and witnessed the crash, or have any potential dashcam footage which could assist our investigation, please call police on 101, quoting incident 2992 of August 22.”
Earlier in the day a woman had to be taken to hospital following a crash on the A9 near Dunkeld.
Motorists reported queuing for over an hour as emergency services responded to the incident.
Traffic Scotland advised motorists to find an alternative route after the A9 was closed southbound near Dunkeld at around 12.30pm.
Emergency crews had first been called to the scene at around 11.50am.
A man at the scene will be the subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal for alleged road traffic offences.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 11.50am on Sunday, August 22, police were called to a report of a five car road crash on the A9 near to Dunkeld.
“One woman has been taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee. The road was reopened at 2pm.
“A man will be the subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal for alleged road traffic offences.”
