Rosie Johnson missing: Fears for woman who vanished from from adventure park

A 22-year-old woman has vanished from an adventure park with no phone or money and police are growing increasingly concerned for her welfare.

Rosie Johnson disappeared from the Little Canada PGL Adventure Park where she is employed in Wootton, on the Isle of Wight, on Sunday evening.

The missing activities instructor's mobile phone last 'pinged' in an area just south of the adventure park, it was reported.

A massive search was launched after she was reported missing, and it was widened on Wednesday while focusing on the areas of Wootton and Firestone Copse, a forest with a walking trail and pond.

Police believe Rosie, from Glasgow, is still on the island and they have asked residents to check their sheds, outbuildings or boats for any sign of her as search teams scoured land and water.

Inspector Andy McDonald, said: “We have serious concerns for Rosie’s welfare."

Police officers, the coastguard and the Wight and Hampshire volunteer search and rescue teams were involved in the effort to find the missing young as the search continued in and around the Wootton Creek area.

The search was focusing on the area of Firestone Copse, close to Little Canada PGL where Rosie was last seen, Isle of Wight Radio reported.

Local residents were shown a photo of Rosie, a former University of Glasgow student.

The National Police Air Service Helicopter was also assisting in the search this week.

It conducted an aerial sweep of woodland between Fishbourne and Wootton.

Rosie is described as having mousy hair and is of slim build and was wearing a dark blue puffa jacket and trousers.

Her family are being supported and kept up to date with the search, a Hampshire police spokesperson said.

Inspector McDonald added: "Information suggests she is still on the island so this is where we are focusing our search.

"However, we would ask anyone with any information about her whereabouts to contact us as soon as possible.

“I would like to repeat our request for members of the Wootton community and surrounding areas to check any sheds, outbuildings or boats.

Please carry out a thorough search and call us on 101 if you think you see or find anything that could assist our search.

“Residents will notice a lot of activity in the area today while we carry out our enquiries. If they have any concerns, they are encouraged to come and talk to us.”
