A woman has been air-lifted to hospital after a head-on crash between a truck and a car in the Upper Hunter on Tuesday afternoon.
The crash occurred on the Golden Highway, about 10km south of Merriwa, about 2pm.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter's critical care medical team was sent to the scene, where they found a 22-year-old driver with "serious multiple injuries", the service said in a statement.
She was trapped in the vehicle before she was able to be treated at the scene.
The rescue helicopter took her to John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition where she was expected to undergo specialist treatment.
