Woman, 22, arrested after man assaulted and robbed of his car

A woman has been arrested after a man was assaulted and robbed of his car in Rutherglen.

The 40-year-old was targeted on Seafield Drive at around 2:25am this morning and his car was stolen. It was later found crashed nearby.

He was taken to Hairmyres Hospital with minor injuries.

The 22-year-old was arrested and taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment to a neck injury.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "We received a report of a robbery on Seafield Drive, Rutherglen, around 2.25am on Thursday, 20 August.

"The incident involved a 40-year-old man who was assaulted and his car was stolen. He was taken to Hairmyres Hospital with minor injuries. The car was later found crashed nearby.

"A 22-year-old woman was arrested and taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment to a neck injury. Enquiries remain ongoing."
