Woman, 20s, airlifted to hospital after being hit by a truck in Dungarvan, Co Waterford

A young woman was airlifted to hospital after being hit by a truck on Monday evening.

The woman, in her 20s, was rushed to Cork University Hospital where she is currently being treated for her injuries.

She was crossing the road on the outskirts of Dungarvan, Co Waterford when she was knocked down, Cork Beo reports.

The incident happened shortly before 7pm on the Waterford city side of the town near the Burgery.

Gardai closed off the road for about an hour and an Army helicopter was drafted in to bring the woman to CUH.

The woman suffered non-life threatening injuries and is currently recovering in hospital.

The truck driver was not injured in the incident and remained at the scene afterwards.

Gardai are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to contact them at Dungarvan Garda Station on 058 48600.
