Woman, 20, killed in Kirkby flat 'adored' by everyone she worked with

A woman who was killed in a Kirkby flat has been described as "polite and funny" by her former workplace.

Courtney Boorne was murdered on December 23 in a flat in Quarry Green Heights, in Kirkby at around 4.40pm. Her former employers, Quartez Care, have said that "nothing was ever too much trouble" for her in a touching tribute.

The 20-year-old worked for the home care company based in Prescot and also in a hairdressers. Quartz Care shared a tribute and link to a GoFundMe page which is raising money for her funeral.

Posting a picture of Courtney to Facebook, a spokesperson for Quartz Care said: "On Friday 23rd December, our much-loved colleague and friend Courtney Boorne, sadly passed away. Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this time.

"Courtney was polite, courteous and a funny young woman, nothing was ever too much trouble. Her service users adored her along with all her colleagues.

"Courtney will be extremely missed and remain in the hearts of all those at Quartz Care. Her family are trying to raise as much money as possible to give Courtney the best possible send off, Please click the link to donate if you wish."

Posting on the GoFundMe page, Ruth Johnston said: "I am so sad to hear the news of Courtney passing away, She was such a lovely friendly young girl always smiling at the hairdressers when I was there. Sending my love and thoughts to her family."

Erica Ridgeway said: "Lovely young Courtney, I'll never forget our little chats and the laughs we had when you used to do my hair. You were so popular, well liked, hard working and such a great hairdresser, we will all miss you so so much, sweet innocent Courtney, you are with the angels now, RIP."

Liam Cain, of Skipton Road in Anfield, was brought before Liverpool Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, December 28, charged with her murder. The 19-year-old spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth during a brief hearing.

He was not asked to enter a plea to the count. Cain was remanded into custody by District Judge Wendy Lloyd ahead of a further appearance before Liverpool Crown Court.
