Woman, 20, arrested after man stabbed to death in West Derby

Police investigating the murder of a man in West Derby this weekend have arrested a woman in connection with the crime.

A 20-year-old woman, from Liverpool, has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Detectives have confirmed she is being kept in custody where she is being questioned.

The arrest comes after a man was fatally stabbed in the chest at around 6.30am, on Sunday, December 19.

Police attended the scene of the crime, on Princess Drive, where the victim is believed to have been stabbed.

North West Ambulance Service attended and the man was taken to hospital where he died.

The man has not yet been formally identified and police remain at the scene today carrying out forensic enquiries.

Detective Inspector Steven O’Neill said: "Although we have made an arrest our enquiries are still ongoing.

"If you live in the area and saw the incident take place or saw any suspicious behaviour that morning at around 6.30am please contact police as soon as possible. Any information, no matter how small, may prove vital to our investigation."
