A 19-year-old woman was followed then assaulted by a man in a park, police have said.
An image of a man police want to speak to has been released.
Greater Manchester Police has issued a public appeal for anyone with information to come forward.
The woman escaped unhurt, police added.
The incident happened in Birchfields Park, near Longsight in Manchester, on Wednesday September 8 at 11.30am, but details have only just been released.
In a statement, GMP said: "Officers have released an image of a man they would like to speak to in relation to an assault in Manchester.
"Officers were made aware that a 19-year-old woman had been followed and then assaulted in Birchfields Park, near Longsight.
"Fortunately the victim wasn't injured and officers believe the attack was an isolated incident."
PC Jonathan Sharples, of Longsight Neighbourhood Policing Team, said the victim was 'physically assaulted'.
No other reports of any other similar incidents have been received.
PC Sharples said: "During this incident the offender has targeted and followed the victim in Birchfields Park and then physically assaulted her.
"Fortunately, there have not been any reports of similar incidents in the area.
"We would ask anyone who recognises the man to contact us."
