Wolves win FIFA 20 Ultimate QuaranTeam tournament after beating FC Groningen in final

Wolves have won the FIFA 20 Ultimate QuaranTeam tournament with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over FC Groningen.

With football in England suspended indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic, competition was taken online in a tournament organised by League Two side Leyton Orient.

A whopping 128 clubs from around the world participated in the tournament, represented by their players, staff or e-sports professional players.

Orient originally targeted raising £50,000, but with over £56,000 now donated to their JustGiving page, they are now aiming for £100,000.

Three quarters of the money will be donated to EFL clubs experiencing financial difficulties due to the coronavirus pandemic, while the remaining 25% will be split between MIND, the EFL’s chosen charity, alongside the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fundraiser by WHO.

Raul Jimenez gave Wolves the lead early in the first half with a thumping near-post finish after some exquisite link-up play between Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho.

FC Groningen equalised before half-time, however, Daishawn Redan with another near-post strike.

With just six minutes of normal time remaining, Wolves snatched victory thanks to Moutinho with a neat finish after some silky trickery from Adama Traore.
