The Premier League have confirmed a change of kick-off for the weekend encounter between Wolves and Sheffield United.
Due to have been played at 3pm on Saturday, 17 April, the match has now been pushed to a later kick-off time of 8:15pm, to avoid a clash with the Ceremonial Royal Funeral.
A short statement from the league confirmed the match was being moved “as a mark of respect for His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh”.
Earlier in the day, Newcastle United host West Ham United and this game remains a 12:30pm kick-off.
The later kick-off for the Wolves-Blades encounter means it also avoids clashing with the FA Cup semi-final, which sees Chelsea face Manchester City at 5:30pm on that day.
A weekend defeat for Sheffield United could see them relegated, depending on results beforehand.
If Brighton take a point or better from their Monday night clash with Everton, and Newcastle do the same on Saturday against the Hammers, a loss at Molineux would confirm a drop to the Championship for the league’s bottom club, with seven matches still left to play. They are currently 18 points from safety having lost their last four.
