Wolves star jokes Bruno Fernandes is blocking his Manchester United transfer

Wolves star Diogo Jota has joked that Bruno Fernandes is blocking him from making a move to Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

United are one of many sides to have been linked with a move for the Portuguese forward when the transfer market finally reopens later this year.

The 23-year-old has been a star performer for Wolves this season contributing 15 goals and six assists in 37 games for Nuno Espirito Santo's side throughout the campaign.

Jota admits he is flattered by the interest linking him with a big move this summer, but has joked that compatriot Fernandes has already taken his desired shirt number at Old Trafford.

“(Laughs) No, to begin with, I am ’18’ and now Bruno Fernandes is also ’18’, so we would soon have a problem,” Jota told  Record.

“Just kidding. It’s always good to see your name linked to clubs with a worldwide dimension, but I also know that this is not the most important thing. Just look at what happened now with this pandemic.

"It’s important to end the season, do our best and when the transfer market arrives, see if there’s any situation. It would then be studied by me and Wolves.”
