Wolves star explains how Liverpool crowd 'felt like 15,000 people' on Anfield return

Wolves midfielder Leander Dendoncker believes that the 2,000 Liverpool supporters inside Anfield made a big difference on Sunday night.

The Reds moved level on points with Tottenham Hotspur at the top of the Premier League table after a dominant second-half performances saw them breeze past Wolves.

Mohamed Salah had Liverpool 1-0 ahead at the break before goals from Gini Wijnaldum, Joel Matip and own goal from Nelson Semedo put gloss on the scoreline.

It was the first match Liverpool supporters have attended since March, with Jurgen Klopp playing up to the crowd at full-time with the return of his much-adored fist bumps.

With Merseyside in Tier 2, supporters can finally return to Anfield to watch the Premier League champions for the first time.

Dendoncker believes that the return of a crowd made a huge difference to the game, with 2,000 fans able to create the noise of 15,000.

"I think it’s a huge difference,” he told reporters after the match.

“It felt like there were at least 15,000 people in here when you heard the noise they made. They managed to push their team forward.

“Obviously, it’s way better with the fans and I hope that if the situation allows it and if we can all stay healthy then I hope all the stadiums can be full sometime soon."

"Liverpool is just a really strong team and when you go two down, and then you go three down, it’s just really hard to come back after that," he continued.

“I don’t think we played a bad game and in the first half we had some crosses and some passes that maybe we could’ve done better, which we can look at and which we will look and will do.

"Then defensively, we have to try and look at ourselves and think about what we can do better in the future."
