Wolves star Diogo Jota explains his love for watching Everton

Wolves star Diogo Jota has explained why he used to love watching Everton while growing up in Portugal.

The forward has played a crucial role for his side over the last few years, not only helping them into the Premier League but becoming an influential figure in their side in the top division too.

The 23-year-old has bagged 15 goals in his two seasons in the Premier League so far, but this term his most impressive record has come in the Europa League - claiming nine strikes in 12 appearances.

But, while he was growing up, the Portugal international's favourite English team was clear to him.

Jota told the Guardian : "I loved to watch Everton play, especially when they were playing at home.

"It was not a club that fought for the title but that always made life very complicated for the big teams. And I loved that drive and competitiveness.

"They were relentless.”

Jota has come up against Everton three times in the Premier League and not scored.

The forward was, however, the man fouled by Phil Jagielka which saw the then-Blues captain sent off in the opening match of the 2018/19 term.
