Wolves respond to Raul Jimenez Manchester United transfer speculation

Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo has played down the suggestion Raul Jimenez could join Manchester United in the January transfer window.

United are keen to add an extra attacking option in the transfer window and the latest reports have claimed Mexico international Jimenez could be a target.

The 28-year-old impressed for Wolves on Saturday night as he came on as a half-time substitute during their goalless draw with United in the FA Cup third round.

Despite only playing for 45 minutes at the weekend Jimenez made an instant impact as he hit the post and posed a constant threat at Sergio Romero in the United goal.

The Mexican has played a part in 10 goals in matches against 'top six' sides since joining Wolves and according to recent reports in Mexico he is supposedly of interest to United.

Although the Wolves manager admits anything can happen in the transfer window, he insists he had not even heard of the rumour before he was asked about it.

"First-time I heard it," Nuno said at his post-match press conference.

"Ole didn’t mention anything about that. The transfer window is open. When it is open anything can happen. We are delighted to have Raul."
